A vest is a sleeveless top worn over a T-shirt, blouse or jumper. It can be worn open or closed with buttons, a zip or a bow.

A vest usually has a full front opening, whereas a sweater vest is pulled on over the head. Both are sleeveless and worn over other tops; sweater vests for women are in this category together with the vests.
